Sunday Post/ Weekly Recap and Forecast (5)

Sunday Post is a weekly feature hosted by
Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Hey, guys! Keeping it short and sweet this week. I've only one book to share, but WHAT a book it is:

It's Melina Marchetta so of course it's
Sticky- Central up in here...

Oh people, it's not often I break into the checking account and order from Fishpond.com. Only very special occasions. The Australian release of the final book in The Lumatere Chronicles, Quintana of Charyn, by Melina Marchetta is such an occasion. The US release isn't until March of 2013 and well, that was just too damn long to wait...

I've already read it, and YES, it was worth every stinking penny I paid. :) I'm going to sit down and TRY to write a review that will do this book and series justice, but I've got to digest for a bit. I'm pleased to be part of the upcoming Quintana of Charyn Blog Tour next year but I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait that long to post a review because I feel the need for some serious gushing. There. I've warned you. Feel free to witness said gushing in my review of both Finnikin of the Rock and Froi of the Exiles, the previous two books in the series.

Moving on...here is a look at what you might have missed on the blog last week:

On Monday it was another edition of Revelations and a look at some of the latest cover reveals.
On Tuesday I reviewed What Happens Next by Colleen Clayton.
On Thursday I talked a bit about Genre Blending in YA Literature.
And on Saturday I had the pleasure of interviewing M. Beth Bloom, author of the very fun Drain You, as part of the Drain You Blog Tour and Giveaway.

Speaking of giveaways, head to my Giveaway Page for a chance to win a copy of the MG book The Serpent's Ring and Defiance by C.J. Redwine in addition to the Drain You giveaway.

Next Week look for reviews of The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson, Crewel by Gennifer Albin and Chasing the Skip by Janci Patterson!

  1. I admit I'm yet to read Melina Marchetta. They don't really sell her in book shops here in UK and this series is not in my library, but I'll get to her I swear! ;) Enjoy your book, Heather! :)

    1. Oh Karina, you are depriving yourself of reading one of the MOST talented writers working today. REALLY. I don't just say that about anyone. She is amazing. I've read all but 1 of her YA books and every single one is a masterpiece:)I hope you can get a hold of her books soon!

    1. I'm like the sticky note queen. I mark any passages I like, any important thing that I think will help me write a review or just anything that speaks to me. Generally the more sticky's the better the book:)

    1. The book that I own that has the most insane amount of sticky's would be 'The Sky is Everywhere' by Jandy Nelson. Seriously, it would have been easier to mark the pages that I didn't love. (There would be about 5 pages total if that were the case:) Marchetta's books come a close second though! Such an amazing and gifted writer:)

  4. I LOVE your enthusiasm over this book. It is very contagious and now, I absolutely MUST see what this series is all about. I'm a BIG highlighter when reading on my Kindle app so I understand the desire to highlight quotes in a book that I love. I can't wait to read your review on this one. I'm a new follower.

    1. I highlight on my Kindle too, but there is something very satisfying about sticking those little stickers on pages that I love:)
If you like fantasy I think you'll love this series. It is YA, but really, it totally crosses age groups (if anything it might not be appropriate for the younger YA set.) If you like contemporary realistic books, Marchetta writes those just as beautifully. In fact my fave of her books is a contemporary: Saving Francesca.

Thanks for dropping by and following:)

  5. Yayy! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! :D I got my copy too, but I haven't been in the mood to read it for some reason. I know it's going to make me cry and I'm already half in tears these days over my work load and stress, so I've been reading more light-hearted reads, but I neeeed to read this ASAP! I also love the Aussie Cover...it's gorgeous!<3 Fantastic post this week, Heather! I've been too busy/lazy to do a Showcase Sunday post these past two weeks, so I definitely need to get one up next week! ;)

    1. You know I did cry, but not because the book was sad. I cried because I was just SO happy to be reading these character's stories again! It's dumb but true. I'm totally invested in every single one, and when Froi and his family start going at it or Finn and Isaboe have one of their incredible discussions, I felt like I had been reunited with old friends (I know, I'm a total dork.) I don't know that any other series that affects me like this. I hope you can read it soon and I hope you love it as much as I did, Keertana!

And I hope work and such gets better soon!

  6. I've heard so many awesome things about Melina Marchetta, and even though I don't care for fantasy as a whole, I'm willing to give this a try, just because everyone seems to like it.

  7. I really must read a Mrchetta book, I mapped out time on my blog for these books in !arch! I can' believe all those colored tabs! I wanted to read your review of Crown of Embers but didn't because I am avoiding spoilers as I really want to read that series! Your rating indicates I need to as well!
