Hey everybody! Here's the question for the week:

Q. Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

Well, the boring answer is no. I have read books that I knew had negative reviews but I never have intentionally gone out and purchased a book just because it had a bad review. I must also say that I am pretty picky with my book buying dollars, I visit my local library a lot:)

  3. I'm of the boring answer too :) They've definitely influenced me to check out a book from the library (or take it from a friend, as in the case of Fifty Shades of Grey), but never to purchase. Buying is strictly for ones I know I'll love or already love and need a copy for my shelves :)

    1. Yes, me too! There are too many ways to get hold of books that don't always involve buying, so if I'm going to plunk down some cash than I do my homework and have a pretty confident feeling before I buy:) Hey, how is the Fifty Shades of Gray series? Does it live up to the hype?

  5. I have never been particularly picky with my book buying dollars. This is only because I love them far too much to be picky. So many pretties and I want them all!

    Plus I don't like a time limit on when I can read my books. :/

    But I like your answer and I like that YOU are picky!

    My Answer: No, Reviews matter a lot to me. Not unless the book became controversial that I would really feel the need to read that book.

  10. Yeah, I've never bought a book intentionally because of a bad review ever. I'm sure every book I read has a bad review somewhere though, haha.

  11. I typically won't buy a book just because it had a bad review...but it does pique my interest and THAT alone will make me buy (or visit the library)

  12. Agreed - negative reviews won't stop me from reading a book. But it will generally stop me from buying them. I'd rather just check it out from the library first!

  14. I'm a sucker for punishment I think lol I've bought quite a few books because of bad reviews -- I think I just want to be able to either argue with my friends or commiserate about it after I read it lol
